Anna Tolley was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 17 en route to 21 points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Joplin Harlan was another key player, putting up five points along with nine boards and three steals.
Roane County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ritchie County played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 64-44 to Williamstown. The loss continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Ritchie County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elsa Law almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 43.2% of Ritchie County's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Bush, who scored nine points.
Ritchie County's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Roane County, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Roane County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Ritchie County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Roane County took a serious blow against Ritchie County when the teams last played back in April of 2021, falling 55-18. Thankfully for Roane County, Rebekah Rupert (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
