Baseball Recap: New Riegel Takes a Loss

New Riegel had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 14-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains by a score of 7-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Chieftains this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-5 loss last Tuesday.

As for Hopewell-Loudon, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Hopewell-Loudon's part, the team relied heavily on Kellen Frankart, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Frankart has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Riegel will challenge Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will host Elmwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Chieftains' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
