Softball Game Preview: Pulaski County Cougars vs. Cave Spring Knights

Pulaski County is 1-9 against Cave Spring since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Pulaski County has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pulaski County had taken Salem down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Spartans, falling 16-1. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pulaski County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexas Dishon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Cave Spring's offense. They fell just short of William Byrd by a score of 2-0 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Cave Spring has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Pulaski County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pulaski County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355.
