Basketball Game Preview: Somerset Academy Losee Lions vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

Two dominant guards in Roderick Johnson and EJ Dacuma are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Somerset Academy Losee Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Somerset Academy Losee is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Cheyenne: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Somerset Academy Losee blew Cheyenne out of the water with a 72-44 final score. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Johnson was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasin Musa, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista entered their tilt with Basic on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolves 79-48. The Mountain Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 29 points or more this season.

Sierra Vista is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.8 points per game. As for Somerset Academy Losee, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Somerset Academy Losee was dealt a bruising 76-38 loss at the hands of Sierra Vista when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Somerset Academy Losee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
