Softball Recap: Murrah Mustangs vs. Germantown Mavericks
Murrah extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 15-0 to the Germantown Mavericks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.
As for Germantown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Germantown, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.
For Germantown's part, Tatum Burge looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Ferrah Rose Williams was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaede Patterson, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Murrah will challenge Oxford at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Germantown, they will face off against Starkville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.24 runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
