Basketball Game Preview: Newcomerstown Trojans vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

The Newcomerstown Trojans and the Belpre Golden Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Belpre took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Newcomerstown, who comes in off a win.

Newcomerstown will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating East Canton, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Newcomerstown skirted past East Canton 33-30. The 33-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Belpre came up short against Fort Frye on Saturday and fell 52-44. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Cadets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Belpre's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Newcomerstown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
