Softball Recap: Juniata Valley Wins Going Away Against Mount Union

Juniata Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against the Mount Union Trojans as they made off with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Hornets have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Braelyn Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bethany Devore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

Juniata Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

The win got Juniata Valley back to even at 9-9-1. As for Mount Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Juniata Valley nor Mount Union have any future games scheduled.
