Softball Game Preview: Twin Lakes Indians vs. Highland Trojans

The Twin Lakes Indians will be taking part in a tournament against the Highland Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Twin Lakes has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Twin Lakes saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Rossville, falling 14-1. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Highland got themselves on the board against Bethesda Christian on Friday, but Bethesda Christian never followed suit. They blew past the Patriots 11-0. Considering the Trojans have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Skylar Zoeteman was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Evie Rivera was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Hailey Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Highland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Highland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Twin Lakes, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
