Everything went their way against the Marshall Rams on Tuesday as the Sotomayor WILDCATS made off with a 17-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the WILDCATS considering their one-run performance the match before.
Sotomayor let Shayla Velez and London Echavarria run wild. Velez scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Echavarria went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Avea Munoz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Sotomayor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall only posted an OBP of .435.
The win got Sotomayor back to even at 4-4. As for Marshall, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Sotomayor will be playing in front of their home fans against Holmes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they will head out to square off against Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlan's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
