Softball Game Preview: Fairfield Union Falcons vs. Logan Elm Braves

Fairfield Union hasn't had much luck against Logan Elm recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Braves at 5:15 p.m. Fairfield Union has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Fairfield Union after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 11-1 to Lakewood. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Logan Elm got themselves on the board against Hamilton Township on Tuesday, but Hamilton Township never followed suit. They didn't even let the Rangers on the board, marking their second-straight 12-0 shutout. Considering the Braves have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Logan Elm and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfield Union, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Fairfield Union might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Logan Elm in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
