Basketball Recap: Platteview Falls Despite Big Games from Jolee Deweese and Maddy Stukenholtz

Platteview suffered their closest loss since December 10, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Wahoo Warriors by a score of 40-38. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Platteview's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maddy Stukenholtz, who posted 13 points and three steals, and Jolee Deweese, who put up six points. Brooklyn Stehlik was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Wahoo found their leader in freshman Claire Emerson, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those four steals gave Emerson a new career-high.

Platteview's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Wahoo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Platteview has already played their next contest (against Duchesne), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wahoo will be taking part in a tournament against Malcolm at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Malcolm has won three straight at home, while Wahoo won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
