Basketball Game Preview: California Trojans vs. West Greene Pioneers

The California Trojans will head out to take on the West Greene Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. California is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

California saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a hard 67-50 fall against Riverview. The Trojans were down 55-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

California might have lost, but man, Hayley Gibson was a machine: she dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Gibson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Lila Mitchell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Greene narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past McGuffey 42-39.

California's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for West Greene, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went California's way against West Greene when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as California made off with a 57-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
