Harnett Central is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Western Harnett Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are at an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long.

Harnett Central can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cape Fear by a score of 6-5.

Harnett Central got a good showing from Christopher Gaudet, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Harnett Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Gaspar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another was Brayden Sears, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Western Harnett came up short against Scotland on Wednesday, falling 12-5. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Fighting Scots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bryce Mills was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Morgon Buchanan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Harnett Central took their win against Western Harnett in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Will Harnett Central repeat their success, or does Western Harnett have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
