Football Game Preview: Platte County Pirates vs. Rockhurst Hawklets

The Platte County Pirates will take on the Rockhurst Hawklets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Platte County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past St. Pius X to the tune of 42-0. 42 seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Rockhurst entered their tilt with Fort Osage on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-13 win over the Indians. Given the Hawklets' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Indians are ranked 59th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Platte County better keep an eye on Cash Lewandowski. He was instrumental in Rockhurst's win, rushing for 122 yards and four TDs on only 14 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Lewandowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Hayes, who rushed for 70 yards and one score.

Rockhurst was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Rockhurst, adding 15 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Connor Devereux: he added 15 points with five field goals.

Platte County's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Rockhurst, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
