Baseball Recap: Marion Find Success

Marion won the last time they faced Canton-Galva and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-2. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Jameson Looper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Marion is 5-1 when Looper posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Looper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Watkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Lane Smith was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Marion back to even at 7-7. As for Canton-Galva, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Marion will venture away from home to square off against Bennington at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canton-Galva, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trinity on the 29th.
