Baseball Recap: Caldwell Has No Trouble Against Bloomfield

Caldwell hadn't done well against Bloomfield recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Chiefs never let the Bengals get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chiefs yet this season.

Vin Brown tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Dante Placenti was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris DePrenda, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Caldwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomfield only managed two hits.

Caldwell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Bloomfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Caldwell will venture away from home to face off against Nutley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bloomfield, they will face off against Cedar Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
