Softball Recap: Orangeburg Prep Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Orangeburg Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks 6-5. The Indians haven't had any issues with the War Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Lauren BaLLew made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on HannaH LambrecHt, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Prestan Schurlknight was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Orangeburg Prep's record is now 12-8. As for Colleton Prep Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.

As of now, neither Orangeburg Prep nor the War Hawks have any future games scheduled.
