Basketball Recap: Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans vs. Wagener-Salley War Eagles
The Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans entered their tilt with the Wagener-Salley War Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler enjoyed a cozy 42-24 victory over the War Eagles on Friday. Given Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the War Eagles are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tilayzia Youmans, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Youmans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Akeira Blue, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Hunter-Kinard-Tyler has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Wagener-Salley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
