Preview: Mifflinburg Wildcats vs. Selinsgrove Seals
Mifflinburg has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Selinsgrove Seals at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Mifflinburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
On Wednesday, Mifflinburg beat East Juniata 56-46. Given Mifflinburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while East Juniata is ranked 651st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Selinsgrove's good fortune finally ran out last Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Wilkes-Barre.
Despite the defeat, Selinsgrove got a solid performance out of Ries Naugle, who scored 17 points. The contest was Naugle's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Diehl, who scored ten points.
Mifflinburg now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Selinsgrove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Mifflinburg won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2022, slipping by Selinsgrove 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Selinsgrove's Blake Haddon, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Mifflinburg to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
