Flag Football Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. La Costa Canyon Mavericks

The Carlsbad Lancers will face off against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carlsbad comes in on five and La Costa Canyon on four.

Carlsbad's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 26-0 margin over Cathedral Catholic. Considering the Lancers have won eight contests by more than 23 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlsbad didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Savannah Arzola picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over Ramona on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by exactly two points.

La Costa Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Carlsbad was able to grind out a solid victory over La Costa Canyon in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 13-6. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
