Basketball Recap: Franklin Academy Skates Past East Wake Academy with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Franklin Academy on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the East Wake Academy Eagles out of the water with a 68-32 final score. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Rutledge, who posted eight points along with 13 boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayes Lewis, who put up 14 points.

Rutledge wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Franklin Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Franklin Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for East Wake Academy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-8.

Franklin Academy will welcome Falls Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Wake Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against NCSSM: Durham at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
