Hank Kirkwood was a major factor in Newport's win over Reardan on Friday. Kirkwood wasn't messing around, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. The pitching appearance was his eighth straight with two or fewer walks.
