Basketball Recap: Lake Region Christian Comes Up Short

Lake Region Christian lost against Woodcrest Baptist Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lake Region Christian Hornets took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Woodcrest Baptist Academy.

Despite the defeat, Lake Region Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aleah DeVries went 8 of 16 on her way to 17 points and eight boards. DeVries is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Stephens, who posted five points.

Even though they lost, Lake Region Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups.

Lake Region Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Woodcrest Baptist Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Lake Region Christian will take on St. Francis Christian at 5:15 p.m. on February 18th. Woodcrest Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
