Recap: Lake Buena Vista Vipers vs. West Orange Warriors
The Lake Buena Vista Vipers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the West Orange Warriors on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Lake Buena Vista lost against West Orange in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 84-49 score last time.
Lake Buena Vista's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryan Mwangovya, who scored 23 points, and Travis Ligene who scored 12 points along with nine assists and two blocks. Mwangovya has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah Winslow, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Lake Buena Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for West Orange, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.
Lake Buena Vista won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Horizon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. As for West Orange, West Orange and Cypress Creek will face off at 10:00 a.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
