Basketball Recap: Marion Starts Season with Victory at Home

Marion took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 75-52 margin over the Mississinewa Indians. The Giants not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since December 14, 2024 (when they won 79-34).

Tim Jones had a dynamite game, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 31 points and six steals. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Freshwater, who went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points.

Despite the loss, Mississinewa still got an impressive performance from Dakota Hill, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Seth Yoder, who posted seven points.

Marion has already played their next matchup, an 82-54 victory against Western on the 5th. As for Mississinewa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-67 loss against Norwell on the 2nd.
