Baseball Game Preview: River View Black Bears vs. Philo Electrics

The River View Black Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Philo Electrics at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. River View will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

River View barely beat Claymont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Black Bears were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Mustangs on Saturday. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Black Bears this season.

West Muskingum hit Philo with a six-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Electrics fell 6-2 to the Tornadoes. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Philo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Tom, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Tom has hit this season.

Philo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for River View, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

River View came out on top in a nail-biter against Philo in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Black Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Electrics turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
