Baseball Game Preview: Godley Wildcats vs. Ferris Yellowjackets

For the first time this season, Godley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will head out to face off against the Ferris Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Godley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Ferris' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Godley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Glen Rose just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since February 24th.

Godley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Spohn, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Jaydon Spurlock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Ferris lost 20-1 to Godley on Friday.

Ferris has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6-3 record this season. Godley's loss dropped their record down to 18-3-1.

Ferris' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Godley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. It's a different story for Ferris, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Godley's hitters?

Everything went Godley's way against Ferris in their previous meeting on Friday, as Godley made off with a 20-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Godley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
