Basketball Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Eldorado Firehawks

The Sunrise Mountain Miners are taking a road trip to take on the Eldorado Firehawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Sunrise Mountain was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-50 to Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eldorado). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Chaparral 47-20. The win continues a trend for the Firehawks in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won four in a row.

Eldorado found their leader in sophomore Jasmine Rodriquez, who posted 21 points. Rodriquez is becoming a predictor of the Firehawks' success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Anabel Beck, who put up 11 points.

Eldorado's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Everything came up roses for Sunrise Mountain against Eldorado in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 59-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
