Basketball Recap: Vanlue's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Vanlue had lost five straight headed into Thursday's contest, but Olivia Secord didn't let it get to six. The Vanlue Wildcats took down the Crestline Bulldogs 44-26 on Thursday thanks in part to Secord, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season.

Adrienne Phillips was another key player, putting up 15 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Vanlue's points.

Vanlue's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Crestline, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Vanlue wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 43-19 loss against Riverdale on the 16th. Crestline has also already played their next game, a 31-28 defeat against Gilead Christian on the 11th.
