Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Tunstall Trojans, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 8th.

As for Tunstall, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Tunstall's part, Kinslee Cassell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Cassell a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Lovelace, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colby Eastwood, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-5 defeat against Brookville on the 2nd. As for Tunstall, they will head out to square off against Magna Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
