Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Archbishop Murphy

Archbishop Murphy entered their tilt with Marysville Getchell on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Marysville Getchell. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 7-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Saylah Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Sarah Fletcher and Kayla Hookfin did most of the damage at the plate: Fletcher went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Hookfin went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Madhavan, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Archbishop Murphy's record is now 4-2. As for Marysville Getchell, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Archbishop Murphy is set to take on their familiar foe Shorecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell will challenge rival Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
