Softball Recap: Bishop Stang Takes a Loss

Bishop Stang was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 14-11 to the New Bedford Whalers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Whalers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Saturday.

Ava Texeira and Olivia Brien stepped up to the plate in a big way. Texeira went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Brien went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Brousseau, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bishop Stang's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for New Bedford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Stang will welcome Seekonk at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for New Bedford, they will host Durfee at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
