Softball Recap: Woodside Takes a Loss

If Woodside was riding high fresh off their 17-7 takedown of Hampton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Woodside Wolverines fell 18-14 to the Hampton Crabbers on Thursday. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crabbers earlier this season, when they won 17-7.

Lacey Allen and Jaena Antonia Kay did some serious damage despite the final result: Allen scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5, while Kay scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kaymen Strothers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Woodside's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hampton, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodside will take on Phoebus at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampton, they will challenge Gloucester at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
