DeKalb is 1-9 against Waubonsie Valley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Barbs are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Waubonsie Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on DeKalb, who comes in off a win.

While DeKalb didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Stillman Valley by a score of 9-5 on Saturday.

Cassidy Cavazos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Cavazos was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Aislee Morgan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

DeKalb's record is now 6-2. As for Waubonsie Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Waubonsie Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: DeKalb has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Waubonsie Valley, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given DeKalb's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
