Volleyball Recap: Ardrey Kell Falls Despite Big Games from Hayley Rollar and Kirsten Mathews + How To Watch

After flying high against South Mecklenburg on Tuesday, Ardrey Kell came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Myers Park Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-20 in the first set.

Ardrey Kell actually scored more points across those five sets (115-114), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 23-25, 27-25, 29-27, 15-13.

Ardrey Kell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kirsten Mathews, who had 20 digs and one assist, and Hayley Rollar, who had 16 digs and four assists. Rollar is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Leyla Tarcan also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Ardrey Kell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Myers Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Ardrey Kell and Hough will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Myers Park, they will challenge Garinger at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
