Monticello hasn't had much luck against North Sevier recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Buckaroo will be playing at home against the Wolves at 2:00 p.m. Monticello is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Monticello came up short against Duchesne and fell 11-7. The Buckaroo have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Arturo Guiterrez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Jackson Keyes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Sevier). They never let North Summit get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Bron Butler was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Pierce, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zander Christiansen, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
North Sevier hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Summit struck out eight times.
Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for North Sevier, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-9.
Monticello might still be hurting after the 19-5 loss they got from North Sevier in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Buckaroo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
