Baseball Recap: Camden Central's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Camden Central had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Dresden on Thursday. Camden Central's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.

Carter Maines was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Camden Central let Eli Latendressee and Gage Johnson run wild. Latendressee scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Johnson scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, Johnson posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carl Baker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Camden Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Dresden, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Camden Central and Dresden will both be playing Union City the next time they take the field. Camden Central will head out to face Union City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Dresden will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
