Basketball Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Laneville Yellowjackets

Centerville hasn't had much luck against Laneville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Centerville Bulldogs will take on the Laneville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Centerville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Laneville likes a good challenge.

Centerville will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Martinsville, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Centerville blew past Martinsville 60-28 on Friday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jake Slaten, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hardy Brown, who posted ten points and five steals.

Laneville played against Wells and lost via forfeit.

Centerville's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Laneville, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Everything came up roses for Centerville against Laneville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 87-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
