Basketball Game Preview: Olathe North Eagles vs. Lawrence Lions

The Olathe North Eagles will challenge the Lawrence Lions on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Olathe North has three straight victories, Lawrence has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, everything went Olathe North's way against Shawnee Mission North as Olathe North made off with an 81-56 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Lawrence came up short against Olathe Northwest on Friday and fell 66-56. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Ravens are ranked 17th).

Olathe North pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points over those games. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Olathe North strolled past Lawrence in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 66-49. Does Olathe North have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lawrence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
