Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. DSST: Cedar Falcons
The Arrupe Jesuit Generals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 61-44 to DSST: Cedar. Arrupe Jesuit lost against DSST: Cedar in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-32 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Arrupe Jesuit saw an underclassman step up: Ari Cowans scored 20 points along with five steals. Cowans set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Josh Dimas, who scored four points.
DSST: Cedar found their leader in underclassman Ilyas Elmi, who scored 22 points. The matchup was Elmi's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jaime Phan-Jaquez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Arrupe Jesuit bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for DSST: Cedar, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Arrupe Jesuit will head out on the road to face off against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Clear Creek is ranked 257th, while Arrupe Jesuit is ranked 254th). As for DSST: Cedar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
