Ridgecroft hasn't had much luck against Lawrence Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ridgecroft will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Northeast Academy on Tuesday. The Rams blew past the Eagles 11-2. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Klaire Cherry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Olivia Revelle and Madison Joyner did most of the damage at the plate: Revelle scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Joyner scored a run while going 5-for-5. That's the most hits Revelle has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Slaughter, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Academy waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 22-0 win. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Ridgecroft, Lawrence Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Clair Ferebee. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ferebee was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Jaslene Ethridge was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Caroline Halstead was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Lawrence Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Ridgecroft's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lawrence Academy, their record now sits at 12-3.
Both Ridgecroft and Lawrence Academy just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Lawrence Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ridgecroft suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to Lawrence Academy in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
