Baseball Game Preview: Van Nuys Wolves vs. Canyon Cowboys

The Van Nuys Wolves will take on the Canyon Cowboys at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Van Nuys will be strutting in after a win while Canyon will be coming in after a defeat.

Van Nuys was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Reseda last Monday. Everything went Van Nuys' way against Reseda as Van Nuys made off with a 15-5 victory. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Regents recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Joel Enciso and Enzo Enciso were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Enciso struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Enzo tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Joel has posted since back in March of 2024. At bat, Enciso scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Enzo scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Van Nuys got a massive performance out of Anthony Navarro, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Navarro a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Matthew Herrera, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Van Nuys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reseda only posted an OBP of .323.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Canyon's offense. They lost 10-0 to Lancaster on Tuesday. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory got Van Nuys back to even at 1-1. As for Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
