Baseball Recap: Trinity Wins Going Away Against Varsity Opponent

Trinity came out on top against Varsity Opponent on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Raiders blew past Varsity Opponent 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with Varsity Opponent: they've now won five in a row.

Harrison Barnett made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayin Howard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Trinity: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Isaac Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Trinity's record now sits at 15-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will venture away from home to challenge Russellville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out to square off against St. Paul's at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Big Red's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Varsity Opponent's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
