Basketball Recap: Jemez Valley Victorious

Jemez Valley won the last time they faced Laguna Acoma and things went their way on Friday too. The Jemez Valley Warrior slipped by the Laguna Acoma Hawks 55-54. The team accrued 48 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Laguna Acoma's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Carrillo, who posted 15 points. The match was Carrillo's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Carrillo, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points and eight boards.

Jemez Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Laguna Acoma, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Jemez Valley will take on Menaul at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Laguna Acoma, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sandia Prep at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
