Preview: La Plata Warriors vs. Huntingtown Hurricanes
La Plata is 0-9 against the Hurricanes since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The La Plata Warriors are on the road again and plays the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Wednesday, La Plata came up short against the Rams and fell 54-44. La Plata has struggled against the Rams recently, as their match on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, La Plata saw an underclassman step up: Aniyah Sisco scored 20 points. Taylor Parker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Huntingtown's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Great Mills by a score of 46-43.
La Plata's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for Huntingtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
La Plata was dealt a bruising 56-8 defeat at the hands of the Hurricanes in their previous matchup back in January of 2022.
