Baseball Game Preview: The Heights vs. DeMatha Stags

The Heights hasn't had much luck against DeMatha recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Heights will challenge DeMatha at 4:30 p.m. DeMatha took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on The Heights, who comes in off a win.

If The Heights beats DeMatha with four runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Heights walked away with a 4-0 victory over St. Andrew's Episcopal on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for The Heights.

Meanwhile, DeMatha faced John Carroll in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Stags fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Stags couldn't push the score so high this time.

DeMatha got a good showing from Wes Hall, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Hall a new career-low.

At the plate, DeMatha saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bo Schilling, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The Heights' win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for DeMatha, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

The Heights suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to DeMatha in their previous meeting back in March. Can The Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
