If Lowndes wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Valdosta, they should've done a better job of containing Jabarri Williams. The Valdosta Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 victory over the Lowndes Vikings on Saturday thanks in part to Williams, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points and seven assists. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kam Jackson, who posted 17 points. That was a full 34.7% of Lowndes' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarrell Green Jr., who had eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.
Valdosta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Lowndes, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valdosta will head out to challenge Colquitt County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colquitt County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Valdosta surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lowndes, they are taking a road trip to take on Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomasville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Lowndes likes a good challenge.
