Basketball Recap: Chris Boyea Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northeastern Clinton

Massena proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 36) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 victory over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Massena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Boyea led the charge by going 5 of 11 en route to 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Boyea has posted since back in January of 2024. Alexander Tarbell was another key player, going 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points.

Massena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Massena is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Northeastern Clinton, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Massena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-45 defeat against Potsdam on the 23rd. As for Northeastern Clinton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-45 loss against Beekmantown on the 24th.
