Softball Recap: Richfield Comes Up Short

If Richfield was feeling good fresh off their 19-3 takedown of Varsity Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richfield Wildcats lost 13-7 to the Skyridge Falcons on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2017.

Jerzy Moon and Baylee Brown stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moon scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Brown scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Brown also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Richfield has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Skyridge now has a winning record of 5-4.

We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. South Summit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Skyridge, they will take on Pahrump Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pahrump Valley's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Skyridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
