Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Midland's 17th in Last 18 Outings

Midland never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the San Angelo Central Bobcats 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kamryn Weir made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marley Porter, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Avrey Ochoa, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Midland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. San Angelo Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Looking ahead, Midland will face off against Midland Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Angelo Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought as San Angelo Central Bobcats face off against Frenship Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frenship will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something San Angelo Central surely won't give up without a fight.
